French President Emmanuel Macron recently visited Indonesia, highlighting the strong and lasting partnership between the two countries. Macron emphasized that the relationship between Indonesia and France goes beyond mere symbolism, representing a tangible and robust collaboration. During his visit, President Prabowo Subianto warmly welcomed Macron at the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta.
Macron expressed gratitude for the warm reception and underscored the potential to enhance the strategic partnership between France and Indonesia. He stressed the significance of collaboration across various sectors including the economy, technology, security, and culture.
With 75 years of established diplomatic relations, Indonesia and France have made substantial advancements in the past decade. Macron acknowledged Indonesia’s crucial role in upholding regional stability in the Indo-Pacific region and highlighted progress in mutual defense cooperation, renewable energy, transportation, and the energy transition agenda.
Furthermore, Macron placed significant importance on cultural partnerships, with a cultural agreement set to be signed at the Borobudur Temple complex as a symbolic gesture of the deepening friendship between the two nations. Expressing appreciation to President Prabowo for the gracious welcome, Macron expressed optimism for ongoing collaborative efforts during his two-day official visit to Indonesia.
