Toyota/Lexus Duo Sport Cars Make an Appearance at the Goodwood Festival of Speed 2025
The latest Toyota/Lexus sport cars were once again showcased on the second day of the Goodwood Festival of Speed 2025. Both the road-going models and their racing counterparts have ascended the famous hill climb once more, but what really caught our attention was the interview with the drivers of the cars that are currently in development.
It was revealed that these cars have been in the works for over four years, with circuit testing starting around a year and a half ago. While the cars are not fully finished yet, judging by their interiors, the official launch is not far away.
Since there are no press photos available, we had to make do with screenshots from the live stream, showcasing the legal road version’s cabin.
Using Photoshop and a bit of AI expertise, we enhanced the brightness and exposure of the top image, revealing more details. The unedited screenshot is attached just above.
Featuring a red-dominated interior, the LFR (confirmed name) comes with a pair of carbon bucket seats separated by a wide center console. While a manual gearbox was never realistically expected, this new Lexus (or Toyota?) supercar has a small shifter for the automatic transmission.
The two-tone dashboard boasts a large touchscreen and physical buttons located just below it. Unfortunately, there are also some piano black accents and hexagonal-shaped side air vents. Like the instrument cluster, the side mirrors are also digital, displaying footage from rear-facing cameras. Overall, the cabin feels more like a true sports car compared to the RC F it’s supposed to replace.
This makes sense, considering the LFR is believed to be the road-going version of the Toyota Gazoo Racing GT3. Lexus has yet to confirm what powers this two-seater coupe, but based on the sounds emitted by both cars at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, a V-8 engine is highly likely.
Whether it’s twin-turbocharged and/or hybrid remains to be seen, although reports from Japan suggest otherwise.
The GR GT3 is expected to start racing in 2026, four years after the concept with the same name made its debut at the Tokyo Auto Salon. This indicates that the wait is almost over, not only for the racing car but also for the street version. The Toyota version is likely to remain a track-only model, while Lexus is expected to be a road-legal vehicle.
Expect both to be launched by the end of this year or early 2026.
