European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen has announced a new visa policy to facilitate Indonesian citizens’ entry into the European Union. The policy allows Indonesians on their second visit to the EU to obtain a multi-entry Schengen visa. This announcement was made during a joint press conference with Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto in Brussels. Von der Leyen highlighted that the visa policy aims to strengthen long-term ties between Indonesia and the EU, particularly in areas like education, investment, and social exchange. She emphasized that the visa policy is part of the people-to-people connections pillar in the EU-Indonesia strategic partnership. President Prabowo welcomed the deepening of ties between the EU and Indonesia, emphasizing the importance of trust and shared values in their relationship. He expressed his hope for the finalization and signing of the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) in Brussels. With the new visa policy and enhanced economic partnership, Indonesia and the EU are embarking on a new chapter of increased openness, strategic cooperation, and mutual benefits for their citizens.
