TNI and Polri Troops Shine at France’s Bastille Day Parade
The Indonesian Armed Forces (TNI) and National Police (Polri) troops showcased their skills and culture at France’s Bastille Day parade on July 14th. The joint Patriot II Task Force made a grand entrance on the historic Champs-Élysées in Paris, attracting attention with their vibrant display featuring mascots representing the Army, Navy, and Airforce.
President Prabowo Subianto and French President Emmanuel Macron watched the parade, with Prabowo saluting the Indonesian troops as they marched by. Macron showed his appreciation with enthusiastic applause, acknowledging the impressive performance of his Southeast Asian guests. The 500-member Indonesian contingent, including personnel from the TNI and cadets, arrived in France on July 6th to prepare for the event.
Bastille Day is celebrated annually on July 14th to commemorate the Storming of the Bastille in 1789, a significant event during the French Revolution. This year’s celebration also marks the 100th anniversary of La Flamme, the Eternal Flame under the Arc de Triomphe, and the Bleuet de France, a symbol honoring fallen soldiers and war victims.
Indonesia’s participation in the parade not only strengthens bilateral relations with France but also demonstrates Indonesia’s commitment to defense diplomacy and international cooperation. This highlights Indonesia’s dedication to peace and solidarity on the global stage.
