The commitment of President Prabowo Subianto to uplift the poor and break the cycle of poverty is evident through a series of flagship initiatives aimed at addressing immediate needs and creating a pathway for future generations to rise out of poverty. Deputy Minister of Social Affairs, Agus Jabo Priyono, emphasized the importance of programs like Sekolah Rakyat, Kopdes Merah Putih, and MBG in achieving this goal during a Berani Bicara discussion. The Sekolah Rakyat program aims to disrupt the intergenerational poverty cycle by providing education to children born into low-income families. President Prabowo’s administration is focused on eradicating poverty, with ambitious targets to eliminate extreme poverty by 2026 and reduce the overall national poverty rate to below 5 percent by 2029. The three-pronged strategy to combat poverty includes initiatives like People’s School, Red-and-White Village Cooperatives, and Free Health Checks in Schools. The Red-and-White Village Cooperatives aim to stimulate local economies and empower rural and urban communities by generating new jobs. President Prabowo will officially launch the Kopdes Merah Putih program on July 21, 2025, with a target of establishing 80,000 cooperatives nationwide. These initiatives are part of a comprehensive approach to address poverty and empower communities to meet their own needs.
