Deputy Minister for Population and Family Development (Wamendukbangga) Ratu Ayu Isyana Bagoes Oka emphasized the importance of parents staying updated with their children’s interests and engaging in physical activities together to prevent addiction to games and gadgets. This message was conveyed during a discussion organized by the Presidential Communication Office (PCO) in collaboration with Gempita in Jakarta. Isyana highlighted the need for parents to continuously learn and upgrade themselves, especially in understanding current online applications. Children tend to learn quickly, and parents need to keep up with them to guide them effectively.

She pointed out that children often seek quick satisfaction, or “cheap dopamine,” through social media and online games, which can lead to addiction. Isyana suggested that outdoor activities and sports can provide a healthy alternative to obtain dopamine and emphasized the importance of physical movement for overall well-being.

Another ministry’s program, Ruang Bersama Indonesia (RBI), was highlighted by Deputy Minister for Women’s Empowerment and Child Protection, Veronica Tan. RBI aims to create safe and inclusive spaces for women, children, and communities to empower, learn, play, and unleash creativity. Through this program, Veronica hopes to provide children with access to safe and creative spaces, engagement in traditional and creative games, sports activities, and a diversion from gadget addiction.
