The Free Health Check (CKG) program, according to Hariqo Wibawa Satria, the Senior Expert at the Presidential Communication Office (PCO), is a crucial initiative in promoting a healthier nation. CKG serves as the first step towards freedom from illness, encouraging people to prioritize their health on a long-term basis. Hariqo emphasized the importance of raising awareness and changing mindsets to achieve a healthier population. President Prabowo’s administration has implemented various programs such as CKG, the “Stop TB” campaign, and initiatives to support medical professionals in remote areas, aiming to combat diseases and strengthen public health facilities nationwide.

Despite celebrating Indonesia’s 80th year of independence, the country continues to face health challenges impacting both its economy and society. Illnesses have been a significant factor in reducing productivity levels and GDP, with studies showing a considerable economic loss due to illness-related factors. Investments in health are not only vital for social well-being but also serve as a strategic economic asset, as healthier populations contribute to increased productivity and economic growth.

Hariqo highlighted the prevalence of health issues among Indonesian children, including diseases like diabetes and obesity, as well as the impact of excessive gadget use on vision health. The CKG program plays a crucial role, not only in preventive healthcare but also in providing health education to the public. By promoting a disease-free population, Indonesia can progress towards national development and economic growth, with healthy citizens making significant contributions to the country’s GDP and overall productivity levels. Improved public health can potentially lead to a 1-2% annual growth in GDP, showcasing the long-term benefits of investing in healthcare initiatives.
