President Prabowo Meets King Philippe of Belgium: Diplomatic Meeting at Laeken Palace

President of the Republic of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, had a significant meeting with His Majesty King Philippe Leopold Louis Marie of Belgium at the Royal Palace of Laeken in Brussels on Sunday, 13 July 2025. As President Prabowo arrived at the palace, he was warmly welcomed by King Philippe. The two leaders then proceeded into the palace and took a moment for an official photo session in the main hall. President Prabowo expressed his gratitude to King Philippe, extending a handshake, to which the King responded cordially.

In a friendly atmosphere, President Prabowo and King Philippe engaged in a private one-on-one meeting. Accompanying the President at Laeken Palace were Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya and the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Indonesia to the Kingdom of Belgium, Andri Hadi. This meeting with King Philippe concluded President Prabowo’s series of high-level engagements during his state visit to Belgium.

Following the meeting, King Philippe personally bid farewell to President Prabowo as he departed for Brussels Airport. President Prabowo then proceeded to Paris, France, to participate in the Bastille Day celebrations on Monday, 14 July, as a guest of honor. Earlier in Brussels, President Prabowo also held strategic diplomatic discussions with President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen and President of the European Council António Costa.

These meetings highlighted Indonesia’s active diplomatic efforts to finalize the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA), aiming to enhance economic cooperation between Indonesia and the European Union. The discussions at these high-level meetings were crucial in strengthening ties between Indonesia and key partners in the European region.
