President of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, has recently appointed General Tandyo Budi as the Deputy Commander of the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI). Additionally, he has also inaugurated six new Regional Military Command (Kodam) commanders, 20 brigade commanders, and 100 Territorial Development Battalions. During the ceremony, Prabowo awarded the Bintang Sakti Medal of Honor to soldiers who demonstrated exceptional integrity.
In his address, Prabowo emphasized the importance of leadership, stating that commanders must lead by example. He highlighted the role of military leaders as the first line of protection for their troops in hazardous situations. Prabowo firmly stated that commanders should lead from the front, setting a positive example for their subordinates.
He rejected the notion of commanders staying behind the lines, asserting that true leaders should be at the forefront with their troops. Prabowo urged military leaders to treat and train their troops with care and compassion, likening them to their own children. He emphasized the importance of nurturing, leading, and training soldiers effectively without resorting to cruelty.
Prabowo concluded his speech by reminding everyone of the identity and mission of the TNI, emphasizing its role as the people’s army. He reiterated that the TNI exists to serve, defend, and protect the people, with a willingness to sacrifice for the nation. This event marked a significant moment in the Indonesian military as new leaders were appointed to uphold these values and principles.
