Speaking at the Operational Troop Review and Military Honors Ceremony in Batujajar, President Joko Widodo reminded young soldiers of Indonesia’s history of colonial rule and oppression. He emphasized the crucial role of a strong military in ensuring the freedom and sovereignty of a nation.
Acknowledging the complexity of today’s global challenges and the presence of external threats, President Joko Widodo stressed the need to strengthen national defense to protect Indonesia’s territory, sovereignty, and resources. He highlighted the importance of learning from other nations’ struggles and ensuring that Indonesia remains prepared and equipped to face any threats that may arise.
President Joko Widodo also emphasized that Indonesia will not align with any geopolitical bloc, but maintaining a strong defense is essential to safeguarding the nation’s interests. He appointed new military commanders and inaugurated various TNI units as part of the efforts to boost Indonesia’s defense capabilities.
The troop review ceremony witnessed the participation of over 27,000 personnel and showcased various defense assets from the Army, Navy, and Air Force. President Joko Widodo also conferred prestigious honors and ranks to individuals for their exceptional dedication and service to the nation. This event underscored the government’s commitment to enhancing Indonesia’s defense capabilities and ensuring its readiness to face any challenges in the future.
