Indonesian diaspora from around the world gathered at the Diaspora Global Summit 2 in Jakarta, hosted by the Indonesian Diaspora Network–United (IDN-U). During the event, Hamdan Hamedan, Senior Advisor at the Presidential Communication Office (PCO), highlighted President Prabowo Subianto’s comprehensive approach to addressing key issues through five flagship programs. These programs, known as Free Nutritious Meals (Makan Bergizi Gratis, MBG), Free Health Checkups (Cek Kesehatan Gratis, CKG), People’s Schools (Sekolah Rakyat), the Merah Putih Village and Urban Cooperative (Koperasi Desa/Kelurahan Merah Putih), and the Three Million Homes program, aim to support citizens from the crucial First 1,000 Days of Life through achieving full economic independence.

To illustrate the impact of these programs, Hamdan shared the story of Ani, a young girl from a modest family who benefited from the initiatives. Ani received Free Nutritious Meals since before birth, ensuring she had proper nutrition during the critical First 1,000 Days to prevent stunting. Throughout her schooling years, Ani continued to receive nutritious meals, health checkups, and character education at People’s School, a free boarding institution. Her father, previously unable to start a business, obtained financing from the Merah Putih Cooperative, leading to economic stability and eventually purchasing a home through the Three Million Homes program.

Hamdan emphasized that the goal of these programs is to break the cycle of poverty and empower individuals to achieve self-reliance. He assured the diaspora audience that progress is already underway, with measurable targets set to eliminate extreme poverty. IDN-U President Professor Herry Utomo expressed support for these strategic policies, recognizing the positive impact they can have on fostering healthy, educated, and prosperous societies. The diaspora community stands prepared to contribute to realizing this vision of progress and development for Indonesia.
