Prabowo Subianto, President of Indonesia, reiterated his administration’s dedication to the education of the country’s youth during his State Budget 2026 Financial Note address. The address took place at the House of Representatives’ plenary session in Senayan, Jakarta. The President announced that the 2026 state budget will allocate a record-breaking Rp 757.8 trillion to education. This commitment reflects the government’s belief in the transformative power of education in creating globally competitive human resources and reducing poverty. Prabowo emphasized the need for efficient use of education funds, with a focus on improving teacher welfare and quality, enhancing vocational training, and aligning curricula with industry demands.

The breakdown of the education budget for 2026 includes funding for the Smart Indonesia Program, scholarships for university students, and investments in school and campus facilities. Teacher and lecturer salaries will receive a substantial allocation, with provisions for professional allowances. The President also highlighted plans to strengthen People’s Schools and Garuda Excellence Schools to broaden access to quality education for disadvantaged children. Additionally, the government aims to expand scholarships through the Indonesia Endowment Fund for Education (LPDP) to support students studying at top universities worldwide.

Looking ahead, Prabowo emphasized the importance of advancing Indonesia’s proficiency in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). The government’s goal is to nurture a generation of intelligent, innovative, and globally competitive individuals.
